A green oasis on the desert of royals abode, Rajasthan is obviously the only hill-station in Indian north-west that is called Mount Abu. This place is situated at the height of 1,219mtrs. from sea level. Earlier, Mount Abu was a pious habitation for sages and saints, and according to a legend 330 million Hindu gods & goddesses used to visit this sacred mountain.
The same land where the Legendry Hindu sage Vashishtha lived and had once created four Agnikula(clans of fire)to save this earth from demons. Nearby there's a natural spring spurs out from the cow's head which is actually a rock. Dilwara Jain Temples : Mount Abu is a home to a number of Jain Temples( from 11th to 13th centuries and that are built of white marbles) and renown in the world around. Nakki lake : Another chief attraction in Mount Abu is a Lake, named Nakki. It is a biggest tourist hub in Mount Abu. Nakki Lake is also famous as a Love Lake. Certainly the best biggest place for a romantic evening for lovers. As said by some locals, 'this lake also have a religious significance' as they (local tribes) worship it. The truth about this Lake is that it is not a natural one and the only Indian artificial Lake. It is surrounded by trees, gardens and most of the hotels of Mount Abu. For visitors, boating is also a very good option to enjoy the beauty of this Lake.
Wildlife Sanctuary : Spread over an area of 290 sq.kms. a Wildlife Sanctuary that was established in 1960 and named on Mount Abu itself. As a popular destination for eco- tourism in Rajasthan it is situated on Aravali, the oldest mountain ranges in India. In this sanctuary there are 449 genres and 820 species of plants along with 120 plant categories. Full of floral beauty there are plenty of roses and bamboos. Besides, 250 species of bird can be spot there, including the popular grey jungle fowl. The Mount Abu Wildlife sanctuary is also residence for animals like wild boar, leopard, chinkara, sloth bear, sambar, and langur amongst others. Many of the animals in the sanctuary are extremely rare and threatened.
Achalgarh Fort : One of the beautiful and famous medieval monuments. This fort was built in the 14th century by Rana kumbha, an esteemed designer of Mewar. In its campus there are several Jain Temples including Achaleshwar mahadev Temple and the Kantinath Temple. This fort located at the 8 km of distance from the downtown, Mount Abu. The wonderful location of the fort offers a picturesque view of the whole city around. Besides these places there are other sightseeing places like, Sunset point, Adhar Devi, GuruShikhar, Traver's Crocodile Park and Gaumukh.
